Week Six

I have been frustrated this week making my movie and podcast. My goal was to create a collage image for my movie using the "Filling a Selection with an Image" example in the text. I wanted to make a page like the BOOKS example using pictures of my students instead of books and it is not working the way I had envisioned.

I also would like to know if there is something that I can do about the interaction between the video camera and the computer screen. I have some great footage of my students taking AR tests on the computer and the screen shows bad interference.

Week Five

This week I worked on my final projects. I have edited several pictures using Adobe PSE. I really like the cloning tool. I was able to remove an ugly power box from a group class photo. I covered the power box by cloning the grass. I am very happy with the results.

I also created a photo collage using the program. I used five different photos to make the finished product. This week's work started with frustration, because I knew what I want to do and was unable to easily complete the tasks. After I worked with the program for a while I finally got the results I desired. I must remember that there are often many steps to follow.

Week Four

I have subscribed to a podcast series that deals with Smartboard technology and its use in the classroom.

I have really enjoyed the podcast about the Smartboard. The producer introduces many things that I will use with my class. The second episode demonstrated the tool bar and what each icon can do. This was helpful because I did not realize what each of these options did. In addition, I found several new things that I can do with the icons that I was familiar with.

In terms of production quality, I thought the text was sometimes hard to read (this was a video podcast). The size and shape of the arrow icon was difficult to follow when the speaker was demonstrating a particular process.

I use my Smartboard every day and it's become a key technology for my instruction. We received very little training on this and the podcast series has been a wonderful resource for me. By learning more of the features, I've been able to add to the ways that I can work with my students in class. They enjoy the variety of Smartboard activities that I've been able to introduce and my teaching has benefited.

Week Three - Favorite education video

Click Here for my favorite education video link from Teachertube. I chose this video because the young speaker helps me, as a teacher, to remember why I went into this field. We all must believe in our students and their potential.

Week Three Podcast

I found a great Podcast on iTunes. It is a video Podcast called "Teaching with the Smartboard". This is a great resource for teachers who have a Smartboard in their classroom and have received little training for it. Just watching one episode I have already found many elements that I can't wait to use.

This Podcast is available under Video Podcasts > EDUCATION > K-12
